WHY I TAKE PHOTOS.
I love photography because it lets me create something beautiful from moments I never want to forget. There is an excitement in chasing a sunrise, staying out for sunset, or being awake at 3 in the morning waiting for the stars to line up. I love not knowing exactly what I’m going to come home with.
Some of my favorite moments happen while I’m simply waiting. Waiting for the light to change, the clouds to move, or an animal to walk into the frame. I become completely present. Nothing else really matters. Even when I’m tired or freezing cold, there is something peaceful about being surrounded by that much beauty and waiting to see what happens.
Photography has pushed me to explore more of the world and pay closer attention to the beauty that is already around me. And somehow, the days I spend taking photos are the days I remember most.
I can look at almost any photograph I’ve taken and remember where I was, what was happening, what I was thinking, and how it felt to be there. Some places really do stay with you.
Being able to experience God’s creation, capture a moment of it, and share it with someone else is an honor and a privilege.
